Starring: Bae Soo-bin, Lee Yoo-jin
Broadcast Network: KBS2 (2014)
Plot Summary: Jin-wook is serving a life sentence for killing his stepfather. In prison, he meets Yeon-soo, who has come for correction and edification program. Over time, Jin-wook looks forward to her visits and a bond looms between them. Jin-wook feels closer and opens up to her kindness. His unexpected release is something any person behind bars would be joyous about, but such is not the case for him. Jin-wook gets to be released for humanitarian reason due to terminal illness. He is just devastated to know of his health condition, but there's really nothing can be done to alter his condition. As he comes out from prison, he looks for Yeon-soo. Surprisingly, Yeon-soo wants him to stop seeing her, but Jin-wook, who is transparent with his feelings toward her is not easily to give up until the day he witnesses how Yeon-soo is being badly beaten by her husband. It is her kind of life far from what he is expecting. Nevertheless, they get to spend time together, but the husband is able to trace them and beat Jin-wook to a pulp. Coming back from the market, Seon-yoo overhears how Jin-wook pleads to her husband to set her free. Seeing him physically battered is distressing enough, but hearing about his terminal illness is beyond heartbreaking. However, Seon-yoo's reaction to the husband is unsuspecting.
My Thoughts: This is a good piece. The short special drama really got me immersed to the realm of the characters. I felt their emotions and it's like I was a part of them. I also felt distressed when I learned Jin-wook's health condition. I felt his love for Seon-yoo especially when he was coaching her how to stand for herself in front of her husband. You can really feel him and likewise Seon-yoo. Their love for each other was inspiring. If this kind of love exists in the hearts of every couple living in this planet, what a wonderful world this earth could be.
My Rating: 10/10
