Plot Summary: Gong Shim (Bang Minah) is an ordinary lady with an ordinary face and mind, unlike her beautiful sister, Gong Mi (Seo Hyo-rim), who has everything - career, parents' attention and all that she wants. Gong Shim though has a warm and sincere personality as compared to her sister. She has always lived as an under dog and always behind her sister's shadows. Though Gong Shim knows where she stands in the eyes of her parents, she craves for the same attention her sister is getting from them. Gong Shim gives up her rooftop dwelling and have it rented out to Ahn Dan Tae (Min Nam-koong), who she initially mistaken as some thug. Gong Shim settles back to her parent's home and has to put up sleeping in one of the two rooms taken over by her sister for the latter's wardrobe.

With no impressive educational background, Gong Shim works part-time at a gasoline station but had to quit due to an unpleasant experience with the wife of a law firm CEO, who exudes a rough behavior during their encounter, Gong Shim ends up being slapped and pushed to the ground that leads her to want to file a case against the arrogant woman for the said assault. She obtains minor cuts and bruises; and is advised by her sister, whose a corporate lawyer,  to get medico-legal report. However, when she gets home, she is convinced by her entire family not to pursue with the lawsuit as they find out that the woman who assaults Gong Shim is the wife of Gong Mi's employer. With resentment and pain in her heart, she lets go of her right to justice because of her sister's plea. Gong Shim ends up drinking and pouring her sentiments to Ahn Dan Tae, who she meets earlier to seek legal counsel and to represent her in the aborted legal proceedings.

Ahn Dan Tae is a low-profiled lawyer and owns his own small law firm, but also takes a part-time job as a chauffeur to Suk Joon-soo (On Joo-wan), who has called to bring him home as he had too much to drink that night. Dan Tae comes to the parking lot and witnesses Joon-soo being beaten by several unknown men. They become friends and Joon-soo even volunteers Dan Tae to his grandmother for his driving services. A boy in his sleep keeps haunting Dan Tae which puzzles him a whole lot. He claims to have gotten his special ability of seeing fast actions or movements in slow motion that seems to make him a skillful fist fighter. He reveals this ability to Gong Shim when she over praised him with his good fighting skills. Dan Tae appears to be a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, who is always dressed in shabby clothes, Capri pants and flipflops. It is so hard to believe by anyone that he is in fact  a lawyer and a good one at that! As narrated by her aunt, Dan Tae has a criminal record and spent quite sometime unjustly in prison. He becomes a lawyer to help the oppressed bring justice to them.

Gong Shim becomes acquainted with Suk Joon-soo through Dan Tae. The former is quite taken by Joon-soo's pleasant appearance, in which her infatuation has become obvious to Dan Tae's eyes and the latter often times teases her for putting up an effort with her looks in front of their new friend with affluent background.  However, Gong Mi is showing interests to Joon-soo and undermines her sister just to pursue the man she likes.

My Thoughts: I have been meaning to watch this but I had a lot of things in my plate and keeps delaying it. Nam-koong has always been one of my favorite actors and it is so nice to see him back on screen with a totally different character. I am glad I started watching 'Beautiful Gong Shim' this weekend. So far, I am enjoying it! It is premature to say anything conclusive at this point but I feel in my bones that this is going to be a big hit. Nam-koong has previously worked with the director and scriptwriter of this drama in 'The Girl Who Sees Smells' and that being said, I am confident that the entire production would be able to pull this off as usual. Airing is only on the weekends, and we just have to be patient for the next episodes to come. It is my first time seeing Bang Minah, and I think she is good.

My Rating: 10/10 (so far)
