Plot Summary: Lee-seol (Kim Tae-hee) is a pretty college student who is adopted from the orphanage when she was six years old. She has vague memories of her past and remembers very little about her father. Enamored with her professor, Jung-woo (Ryu Su-young), she often times day dream about him during his lectures. Lee-seol even takes several part-time jobs to save-up for a trip to Egypt because she knows that her professor will be travelling to the said country soon. In one of the events where she gets an hourly pay, Lee-seol, is asked to extend her princess role at the request of Hae-young (Song Seung heon), a thirty-one year old diplomat and sole successor of the largest conglomerate in Korea, Daehan Jonghap Group, for a brief picture taking with a foreign visiting princess. Lee-seol's eyes light up when she hears that Hae-young will pay him 100 won per hour fee. Unfortunately, Hae-young fails her expectation when he did not have enough cash with him to pay Lee-seol on the spot. He gives his contact card and asks Lee-seol to send him a text message so he can send her the money. They accidentally meet again later that day in one of the department stores where Lee-seol is window-shopping for a luggage that she will use on her dream trip. She sees Hae-yeong purchasing an engagement ring and is impressed by the upfront cash being paid to the sales lady. Lee-seol follows Hae-young through to the parking lot and makes up a way to ask him for the receipt that she can use to get a better deal for the luggage she has been coveting for. A third unexpected meeting with Hae-young follows when Lee-seol goes to the museum owned by the Daehan Jonghap Group to have a look on the director, Yoon-joo (Park Ye-jin), her professor's first love. These incidental meetings are a prelude of Lee-seol and Hae-young's significant future.
Hae-young's grandfather has long been searching for the long lost princess of the Jeosong Dynasty. He is determined to restore the lost monarchy in the country. Hae-young's grandfather is the only living link acquainted to the late king who died in a car accident when he sought him in the past to return to the palace. He becomes successful in his long search and finally finds the whereabouts of the princess. Hae-young is tasked to locate the princess and is surprised to find that she is Lee-seol. Hae-young and Yoon-joo are against in bringing the princess to the public and restoration of monarchy as the chairman of DJG intends to return all his assets to the nation. The chairman's decision will destroy Yoon-joo's plan to gain over the company as she hopes to marry Hae-young someday. It is not hard for the two conniving couple to get Lee-seol out of their way as the latter does not have any intention to be a princess for her own reasons. Convincing Lee-seol to leave the country is easy, however, a travel ban is implemented that prohibits her to leave the country. Hae-young's grandfather resorted to this as he is aware that Hae-young is trying to secure his inheritance by sending the princess away. Lee-seol's life turns chaotic when she can no longer hides her identity. Reporters are everywhere and running after her. Hae-yeong is looking into hiding her for a couple of days until her ban to leave the country is lifted. However, Lee-seol had a change of heart when she hears the news that her father was engaged in scandalous and immoral acts when he was alive. The spreading rumor pains Lee-seol's heart so much and she wishes to clear her father's name in the eyes of the people by allowing Hae-yeong's grandfather to instate her.
Initially, Hae-young comes to help the princess as her educator for his own good and not really for Lee-seol's but as he starts falling for her, Hae-young not only becomes sincere in teaching her but obliges himself to protect her and the restoration of the monarchy. He is ready to thwart whatever good is left in his relationship with Yoon-joo, who heads as director of the Royal Foundation. Yoon-joo not only disagrees with the restoration but her growing jealousy towards Lee-seol makes her all the more aggressive in her many plots to keep the princess out of the palace.
Hae-young and Lee-seol's relationship suffers with the many assumptions surrounding the death of the princess' father which leads the latter to leave the palace. Both of them almost gave up but Hae-young's love for her outweighs the tribulations they are facing. Hae-young holds a press conference and reveals to the public the truth behind his grandfather's acquired assests and commits its turn over to the Royal Foundation. Meanwhile, Jung-woo has relieved Yoon-joo from her duties as director of the Royal Foundation.
Lee-seol returns to the palace and continues what she has already started. Hae-young, on the other hand, gets a post in the Blue House to work for the Korean president and is always out of the country. Though time and distance starts to strain the couple, their unconditional love will weather any threats that will cause any form of separation.
My Thoughts: Lovers of Korean dramas must not miss the roller coaster ride of SSH and LTH! There's never a dull moment from beginning to end. It is upbeat and no forcing of oneself to wait for an exciting part as each scene and episode are all exciting, you wouldn't want to reach the last episode but rather prolong your viewing time to witness the push and pull cute, funny and romantic scenes of Seung-heon and Tae-hee! This is so crazy good!
