Plot Summary: Kyung-min (Kim Rae-won) is a spoiled brat law student raised by his grandparents since his parents' death. He is smart but lazy, self assured and runs like crazy for his dream girl, Hye-run, who does not share the same feelings for him.

Unable to find Hye-run in the school campus, Kyung-min returns to the library and sees a girl napping on the spot where he left his school things. Annoyed with the girl and frustrated for not seeing Hye-run, Kyun-min is off to a bad mood  and takes it on to Jung-eun (Jung Da-bin), who drools on one of his textbooks. Kyung-min is pissed off and their encounter blows out of proportion. Kyun-min takes a turn when he learns that Jung-eun is acquainted with Hye-run. His assumption that they are close friends leads him to befriend the former to gain good grounds from the latter. With that in mind, Kyung-min valiantly runs into rescue when Jung-eun gets into trouble with a thief, who happens to be her brother. That situation brings them all together to the police station where Jung-eun's father is stationed as a poliçe officer.

Jung-eun is just your average looking high school graduate girl, not witty, who wants to have her independence and is good with managing her finances. She declares freedom by staying behind when her family moves out of Seoul. Jung-eun rents a rooftop dwelling but falls short after paying its deposit as her brother screws up her savings. Kyung-min bails her out from her current predicament with the intention of impressing Hye-run. Kyung-min even goes out of his way to help her move in and spruce up her abode a bit.

Kyung-min's compulsive gambling ends himself up in debt with loansharks who are after him. To prevent the thugs from finding him, he decides to stay away from home. He forces his way to stay in Jung-eun's home, who refuses him entry. The jerk that he is, he throws at her face his right to the house since he was the one who paid her rent. Losing in the argument, Jung-eun reluctantly lets him to the house. Kyung-min takes courage to see his grandparents to ask for money to pay off his debt but his grandfather refuses to help him and subsequently suspends his credit cards to give him a lesson.

Life for Jung-eun becomes complicated with Kyung-min's immaturity and insensitivity. He complains a lot of things at home with Jung-eun. Like a crazy mad dog, Kyung-min messes up the house and steals Jung-eun's hidden stash of cash in the cupboard leaving some coins to buy himself a pair of shoes to match his best suit when Hye-run invites him to a party. Reality bites when Hye-run treats him badly, he leaves the party with a broken heart. On foot, he suddenly remembers Jung-eun's birthday and buys her the cheapest cake to celebrate. However, when he gets home, Jung-eun questions him about the money he took. Kyung-min tells him the truth and what transpires at the party. Jung-eun tries to shake some sense for him to wake up and forget about Hye-run, but he is just so stubborn and tells Jung-eun why he likes Hye-run. Loaded with booze, Kyung-min kisses Jung-eun. They wake up in the morning finding themselves on the same bed -  both apalled with the alcohol induced passion. For obvious reasons, Kyung-min runs far and hides himself from Jung-eun, but a wild goose chase ensues again with the thugs who are after him. Jung-eun who comes out looking for him, witnesses everything, defends Kyung-min and takes him back home. Kyung-min lies about why he has fallen into debt. She makes a deal with Kyung-min that she will help him pay off his debt if he focuses on his studies. Amidst all these and other mischiefs of Kyung-min, Jung-eun has fallen for him and while her feelings progresses and becomes obvious, Kyung-min is all the more determined to win Hye-run.

Hye-run, on the other hand, makes a fool out of herself by chasing after Dong-joo, who later becomes interested to Jung-eun. He is a rich and kind-hearted guy, CEO of Plus Ad Advertising, where Jung-eun works. Dong-joo gives special attention to Jung-eun which annoys Hye-run and even Kang-min though he does not show it.

Much as Kyung-min and Jung-eun tries to conceal their non traditional living arrangement from their relatives, Jung-eun's brother shows up in the rooftop and finds about their set up. Kyung-min is also being visited by his grandmother while the grandfather sneaks to check on his grandson. Kyung-min, in the process, slowly learns to do his share while living with Jung-eun, and over time, he has shown concerns for her, but is oblivious to his own true feelings as he is blinded by his superficial infatutaion with Hye-run. Time and again, Kyung-min continually disappoints Jung-eun with his lies and other trivial things, however, Jung-eun cannot bring herself to get Kyung-min out of her life. Eventually, Kyung-min realizes and acknowledges his love for Jung-eun. And through the latter's support, Kyung-min passes the bar exam. Kyung-min proposes to Jung-eun, but is kind of being rejected (not totally though) as she plans to enhance her skills in England for some career training arranged by Dong-joo.

Three years later, Kyung-min has become a successful prosecutor while Jung-eun has transformed into a successful sophisticated career woman. Now back in Korea, Jung- eun visits her old home atop the building and is surprised to find Kyung-min as its permanent dweller in the rooftop. Love sparks again and both end up hugging each other.

My Thoughts:  This drama was first intoduced to me by a friend but I delayed watching it because it's an old one. I checked though but, really, I find the title and its promotional poster unappealing. As obvious, I underestimated and misjudged the drama. I know by heart that I shouldn't judge the book by its cover but I didn't take heed! It's not a bad drama after all! I can still watch it over and over again. Just don't mind their old fashion, Da-bin's bangs and shaggy hair of Rae-won hehe - a far out cry from today's. But, man! Rae-won today is a total knock-out and one of the highest paid actors in the world. I have yet to check for his succeeding works - that's for sure!

Kang-min's character is someone you will hate for being a chronic liar, stealing Jung-eun's hard earned money, but Rae-won did a good job because you cannot hate him too well. I took pity of him instead when he was repeatedly duped by Hye-run. He has comedic charisma - he was really competent for doing a job well done. Moving to the chemistry of the two lead couple - it's lacking. I really don't see them as a couple. I usually love the bickerings and the push and pulls - it's a spice that I really welcome but I really can't explain why I feel indifferent. Probably because they had over done it and there's not much of cute and heart fluttering moments. I am wanting to fall in love with the love of the leads but that's just not the case. The drama is just enterntaining because of the story as a whole plus the familiar faces of the elderly actors and actresses.

I also felt disappointed on Rae-won as I read somewhere in the net about his comment that Da-bin is not pretty enough and her looks made his job difficult for him. Wow! Kind of stuck up! That's so mean to say and insensitive as well - so ùnprofessional. Sorry for my ranting but, sad to say that I find it off.

My Rating: 9/10
